Interview with the Head of Verification team, Igor Korniienko

One of the greatest updates last year was the introduction of the pre-check into Payop’s verification process. Today, we asked Igor Korniienko, the Head of Payop’s Verification Team, how this influenced his team’s work.

Tell more about your experience leading the Payop Verification team.

Igor Korniienko: Leading the Payop Verification team is an incredibly rewarding experience. My team is composed of dedicated professionals committed to ensuring our PSP’s security and efficiency. We focus on meticulous verification processes to protect our merchants and the company from fraud and compliance issues. The collaborative environment and the continuous drive for improvement make this role both challenging and fulfilling.

What benefits does pre-check bring to users and the overall payment processing system?

I.K.: Pre-check offers significant benefits to both merchants and the PSP. For users, it means a smoother and faster verification process, which leads to quicker access to our services. It reduces the likelihood of errors and provides a smoother user experience. For the PSP, pre-check helps identify any potential issues early on, enhancing overall security and reducing the risk of fraudulent transactions. This proactive approach optimises the entire payment process, making it more efficient and reliable.

How does the implementation of pre-check contribute to the efficiency of the verification process, and what impact does it have on the overall user experience?

I.K.: Implementing pre-check significantly enhances the efficiency of the verification process by ensuring that all crucial information is reviewed before the full verification begins. This early screening helps identify and address any discrepancies or missing information right away, reducing delays later in the process. This means a faster, more transparent, and less stressful verification experience for merchants. They can proceed with their transactions sooner, knowing their information is handled promptly and securely.

What is the typical timeframe for project verification at Payop, and how do you ensure a timely process?

I.K.: The typical timeframe ranges from 24 to 48 hours, depending on the complexity of the project and the completeness of the submitted documentation.

We ensure a timely process by employing a well-structured verification KYC form, utilising advanced verification technologies, and maintaining clear communication with our merchants. Our team is trained to handle verifications efficiently while meeting strict standards of accuracy and compliance.

Are there specific factors that can influence the duration of the verification process? How does the Verification team manage these factors to maintain efficiency?

I.K.: Several factors can affect the length of the review process, including the completeness and accuracy of the documents submitted, the complexity of the project, and any regulatory requirements specific to certain industries.

To manage these factors, our team prioritises clear and upfront communication with merchants, providing detailed guidelines on the required documentation and common issues to avoid. We also use automated systems to handle routine checks quickly, reserving manual reviews for more complex cases.

How do you communicate with merchants to keep them informed about the progress of their verification?

I.K.: Keeping merchants informed is a top priority for us. We provide real-time updates through the dashboard or notifications via email, including notifications about their verification status and any additional information or documents required. Users can also track their verification progress through their account dashboard. Additionally, our customer support team and account managers team are available to answer any questions and provide updates if needed.

How does the team balance quick verification and accuracy to ensure both speed and reliability in the verification process?

I.K.: Balancing speed and accuracy is a crucial task. We achieve this by leveraging advanced technology for initial screenings and routine checks, which allows us to handle a large volume of verifications quickly and accurately. For more complex cases we have experienced verification specialists who perform thorough manual reviews.

Regular training and updates on best practices and regulatory changes ensure our team is always equipped to maintain this balance. Our goal is to provide fast yet reliable verification, ensuring that users can trust the integrity and security of our PSP.
